Very pleasantly surprised by the delivery time. Ordered on a Wednesday morning, delivered on Friday afternoon. Upon opening the package, a second surprise: out of a total of 55 plants, none were "weak" plants, all were well-rooted, unlike other mail order brands that do not hesitate to include some rather sad-looking plants in their lots. Thank you for your professionalism. As of today, I have no opinion to give regarding this particular annual plant, I am waiting for this summer to see the result. At the end of April, the perennial plants purchased last autumn are starting to reveal their beautiful foliage, promising a lovely flowerbed this summer.

This Verbena 'Virgo Candy Cane' is part of a new generation of hybrid verbenas selected for their naturally compact, bushy, and trailing habit, as well as the vivacity of their colours. It offers umbels of brilliantly tricoloured flowers, composed of a crown of pink flowers with a white centre surrounding a centre of carmine red flowers. Vigorous and heat-resistant, low water requirements, beautifully flowering from summer to autumn, this lovely annual plant is one of the best for decorating patios and balconies. It is also adorable in sunny flower beds and rockeries.
Â
Verbena Virgo Candy Cane belongs to the Verbenaceae family, it is a recent horticultural hybrid, whose ancestors inhabited the warm regions of South America. This plant forms in a few months a compact, bushy, slightly trailing, rather stocky, 25 to 30 cm (10 to 12in) tall tuft, spreading about 35 to 45 cm (14 to 18in). It tirelessly produces erect stems, which produce beautiful dense and round clusters composed of tiny flowers resembling those of phlox, from early summer to the first frosts. The faded flowers are self-eliminating, reducing plant maintenance to a minimum. The foliage of this variety is dark green, with leaflets wider than those of classic varieties. This perennial plant succumbs to frost, it is grown as an annual in our climate, which allows for its rapid growth.
Â
Garden verbenas are plants that are really easy to grow, suffering more from excess water and food than from occasional neglect. They overflow from hanging baskets, slip between other upright plants in flower pots or planters, hiding their base without suffering from their presence. They are also very beautiful in rockeries, allowing for quickly filling the spaces left vacant by damage caused by a too harsh winter. Create a beautiful bicolored hanging basket by combining the Vepita Pearl Blue verbena with a blood red pelargonium, a purple-leaved ipomoea, and a heat-resistant lobelia Hot White. To create a more romantic composition, for example, associate this Carmine Kiss variety with 'Virgo White' verbenas, with a virginal white flowering, and 'Pearl Blue', covered with dark blue umbels dotted with white.
Note: Attention, our plug plants are professional products reserved for experienced gardeners: upon receipt, transplant and store them under shelter (veranda, greenhouse, cold frame...) at a temperature above 14C° for a few weeks before being planted outside once the risk of frost is definitively eliminated.

Botanical data
Plant your annual Verbenas in a sunny position. They require a light and humus-rich soil and appreciate a moderate supply of fertiliser and water. They tolerate occasional dry soil quite well. You can plant your verbenas in pots, hanging baskets, or garden planters. In pots, they should be regularly watered, without excess, allowing the surface to dry between waterings. Usually grown as annuals, they are actually fragile perennials: by bringing them indoors at the first frost, you can extend their flowering into autumn and winter. Outdoor cultivation is possible by the seaside, with thorough winter mulching and protecting the stump from moisture with plastic. Prune lightly in March.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
