Impatiens Sunpatiens 'Compact Hot Coral' is a more compact plant than other annual Impatiens, offering a long flowering period of beautiful salmon-orange, a colour perfectly complemented by its dark green foliage. This exceptional variety also has the ability to thrive in any exposure and to adapt to both cool and hot climates in our country. Covered in flowers from June until the first frost, resistant to diseases and not easily damaged, it is a truly easy and generous plant to adopt without hesitation in a window box, in a beautiful pot on the terrace, or planted in a large border along a pathway or wall.
Â
The SunPatiens® Compact series are the result of hybridization work that has produced resilient and floriferous plants from New Guinea Impatiens. Belonging to the Balsaminaceae family, they are perennials that are grown as annuals in our latitudes, as they will not survive the first frost. However, they have many other advantages, awarded in 2006 at Euroflora in Italy (among others, best bedding plant): they are robust, vigorous, and require no maintenance. Their compact, ball-shaped habit allows for a beautiful rounded effect without pruning, reaching a height of 40cm (16in) (more in warm climates) and a minimum spread of 30cm (12in). Their numerous leaves are green and glossy, ovate in shape and ending in a point. From the end of spring, multiple flowers appear and continue to bloom until autumn. They measure 4 to 5cm (2in) in diameter and consist of five widely spread heart-shaped petals. Their orange-pink hue is particularly warm and vibrant. It coordinates with many other colours to create lively and joyful displays. It is also a plant with unique characteristics: studies have shown that it has the ability to absorb harmful gases and lower the ambient temperature. Impatiens are therefore considered to be depolluting or purifying plants.
Â
In containers on the terrace or in pots near entrances, the 'SunPatiens® Compact Hot Coral' offer a bountiful and carefree flowering, requiring little maintenance apart from regular watering during hot and dry periods. While they prefer cool and rich soils, they will also tolerate full sun exposure and accept semi-shaded or even shaded conditions. When planted together, they quickly form colourful and impressive mass plantings. When planted individually, they enhance the somewhat mild summer blooms. You can pair them with Impatiens Sunpatiens Compact White, Compact Blush Rose, or a Begonia Chardonnay, for example.
Note: Please be aware that our plug plants are professional products intended for experienced gardeners: upon receipt, transplant and store them in sheltered areas (sunroom, greenhouse, cold frame...) at a temperature above 14°C (57.2°F) for a few weeks before planting them outdoors once the risk of frost has passed.

Botanical data
The compact 'Hot Coral' Sunpatiens Impatiens is easy to grow. It should be placed in full sun or partial shade. Plant it in the ground in spring from March to May, after the last frost as Impatiens cannot tolerate freezing temperatures, for flowering from June until the first frost in October. To accelerate its growth, pre-cultivate it in a pot in a warm and bright location. Place the Impatiens in a well-drained and humus-rich soil. Water it generously but be careful not to overwater. Pruning is not necessary. Very floriferous and fast-growing, it is hungry. Feed it with a liquid fertilizer for containers once or twice a week during the growing season. Remove faded flowers and dry leaves as they appear to maintain its beautiful appearance and prolong flowering. Be aware of protecting it from slugs that enjoy their young leaves, but otherwise Sunpatiens Impatiens is disease resistant.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
