Description

The 'Orange Fizz' pelargonium is a fragrant geranium, with the scent of orange and mandarin, typically grown as an annual. This geranium bears small pink flowers with a carmine centre, perhaps less spectacular than those of classic perennial or annual hybrids, but more natural.

The leaves, of a medium green colour, veined and with a cut shape, are highly fragrant. With a simple touch, they release a delicate citrus scent, between orange and mandarin. So plant them, in a pot or in the ground, in a place where you can touch them, a border or pot on the terrace or veranda. They emit a fragrance and repel mosquitoes.

We were captivated, one day after the rain, by a bed of fragrant geraniums and immersed ourselves in a symphony of delicate scents.

Note: Please be aware that our plug plants are professional products intended for experienced gardeners: upon receipt, repot and store them under cover (in a veranda, greenhouse, cold frame) at a temperature above 14°C (57.2°F) for a few weeks before being placed outside once the risk of frost is definitively passed.

Planting and care

Plant your geraniums in the ground after the last frost, in a sunny location. You can also plant them in pots placed in a sheltered spot, which you will bring outside in May. If you plant them in the ground, wait until the frost has passed. Scented geraniums require well-drained soil, but not necessarily very rich soil. Water moderately. In pots, regular watering is necessary in summer. You can keep your geraniums by bringing them inside a veranda or a cold greenhouse in winter. They can tolerate a light frost, but they won't survive the winter in the garden.
