5 days between shipment and delivery, the young plants have therefore lacked water. They have hardly any roots. They were planted within the hour but are struggling to survive.

Description

'Mambo' Petunias are naturally compact and floriferous plants that withstand bad weather and maintain a very neat appearance throughout the season. Each variety produces numerous single flowers with a wide funnel shape, of beautiful size, whose colour varies depending on the plant: white, pale pink, pink-mauve, deep pink, red, or even violet or dark blue: a total of 9 pure and vibrant colors to suit all tastes. These plants, forming well-regulated domes, bloom early in the season and last until October. Easy to cultivate, these annuals grow very quickly and their abundant flowering allows them to adorn the terrace as well as the garden, for almost 6 months, with almost no maintenance.

Hybrid petunias are all derived from several plants native to the warm regions of South America. The 'Mambo GP F1' Petunia belongs to the Solanaceae family, it is a close relative of ornamental tobacco in particular, and its foliage also contains alkaloids. This selection quickly forms a round and dense clump measuring 25 to 35 cm (13.8 in) in height and 40 cm (15.7 in) in diameter, with a very solid appearance. The plant is in bloom from May to October, provided it is well-watered and regularly supplied with fertiliser. Its cup-shaped flowers are large, tightly packed together on dense foliage. The small center of the corolla is marked with white or almost black, depending on the varieties. The foliage, somewhat downy, has intact edges and a dark green color. Vigorous and healthy, this petunia is not discouraged by bad weather!

No other annual flowering plant has been subjected to such intense selection by breeders for such a long period. The results are impressive, as petunias compete with geraniums in terms of the splendour and length of their flowering period, as evidenced by this wonderful 'Mambo' selection. Plant it in large pots or hanging baskets. You can also plant your Mambo petunias in flowerbeds or to liven up borders of plants with gray foliage such as mouse-ears, dusty miller or wormwood. To stand out, grow several plants together to create an original ground cover at the base of plants like Faassen's catmint, Pennisetum setaceum Rubrum, or annual poppies in pastel colours.

Please note that our young plants in mini-plugs are professional products intended for experienced gardeners: upon receipt, transplant and store them under shelter (veranda, greenhouse, frame) at a temperature above 14C° for a few weeks before planting outside once all risk of frost has passed.

Planting and care

You can plant your petunias in the ground or in a pot. If you want to plant them in the ground, wait until the last heavy frosts have passed (surfinia petunias will tolerate a little late frost). In the meantime, you can pre-cultivate them in a pot in a warm and bright place to accelerate their growth. Plant your petunias in a sunny site sheltered from the wind. They need a light and humus-rich soil, but above all well-draining. Do not water them too much at the beginning of their growth as they are sensitive to excess moisture. They tolerate drought well, but will need regular watering during hot summer weather. Very floriferous and fast-growing, they are hungry plants. We recommend feeding them with a liquid fertiliser for surfinias once or twice a week during the growing season. Remove faded flowers and dry leaves as they appear to keep them looking beautiful and extend flowering.
