The Petunia 'Raspberry Star' is a brand new creation belonging to a series of original hybrids that stand out for the white star pattern on their single flowers. This one displays funnel-shaped flowers with a bright pink-violet colour, starred with white. The plants, forming well-regulated domes, bloom early in the season and until October. This easy-to-grow annual plant with fast growth will bring a lot of dynamism to flower beds, flower pots, and hanging baskets.
Â
Hybrid petunias are all derived from several plants native to the warm regions of South America. The Petunia 'Raspberry Star' belongs to the Solanaceae family, it is close to ornamental tobacco in particular, and its foliage also contains alkaloids. This variety quickly forms a round and dense clump 25 to 35 cm (9.8 - 13.8 in) in height and 35 to 45 cm (13.8 - 17.7 in) in diameter, with a very solid appearance. The plant is in bloom from May to October, provided it is watered well and regularly supplied with fertiliser. Its cup-shaped flowers are medium-sized, contrasting and vibrant, crushed raspberry pink and white, tightly packed together on dense foliage. The small centre of the corolla is marked with black. The hairy foliage has entire edges and a dark green shade, it is vigorous and healthy.
Â
No other annual flowering plant has undergone such intense selection by breeders for such a long period of time. The results are impressive, as petunias compete with geraniums for the splendour and length of their flowering, as evidenced by this 'Raspberry Star' variety. Install it in large flower pots or hanging baskets for stunning results. Create a perfect contrast with black-flowered petunias, or a very pastel ensemble with soft pink, sky blue, or white petunias. You can also plant it in flower beds to punctuate borders of plants with grey foliage such as cerastium, cineraria maritima, or artemisia. If you want to stand out, plant multiple plants to create an original ground cover at the base of plants with grey foliage such as faasseni catmints or annual poppies.
Note: Please be aware that our young plants in mini plugs are professional products intended for experienced gardeners: upon receipt, transplant and store them in sheltered areas (veranda, greenhouse, cold frame...) at a temperature above 14C° for a few weeks before being installed outdoors once all risk of frost has passed.Â

Botanical data
You can plant your petunias in the ground or in a pot. If you want to plant them in the ground, wait until the last heavy frosts have passed, they will tolerate a little late frost. In the meantime, you can pre-cultivate them in a pot in a warm and bright place to accelerate their growth. Petunias will flower from June to October. Plant them in a sunny exposure or in partial shade protected from the wind. They need a light and humus-rich but especially well-drained soil. Do not water them too much at the beginning of the growing season as they are sensitive to excess moisture. They tolerate drought well, but will need regular watering during hot summer temperatures. Very floriferous and fast-growing, they are hungry. We recommend feeding them with a liquid fertiliser once or twice a week during the growing season. Remove faded flowers and dry leaves as they appear to keep them looking beautiful and extend the flowering period.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
