Zinnia Profusion Double White - Zinnia hybride double
I was very disappointed with these zinnia plug plants (unlike the ones I received last year). The soil was completely dried out and reduced to powder in the packaging, despite being transported within the specified time frame, ensuring a 50% loss. However, the agapanthus plants are superb.

Zinnia Profusion Double White, with its white double flowers and golden centre, elegantly complements the range of vibrant colours in the 'Profusion' series. This brave little zinnia blooms from July until the first frost, on a vigorous and compact plant that is highly resistant to diseases, showing perfect tolerance to summer drought and humid climates. An easy-to-grow annual plant in full sun, in well-drained soil, requiring very little maintenance, both in flower beds and in pots.
Zinnia marylandica Profusion Double White is an interspecific hybrid obtained by artificial cross-breeding of Z. angustifolia var.angustifolia and Z. violacea, belonging to the Asteraceae family. Both are native to northern and western Mexico. This Zinnia forms a branching and bushy clump, 30 to 40 cm (12 to 16in) tall and 40 to 50 cm (16 to 20in) wide. The sturdy stems are covered with rough and downy, lanceolate to elliptical, medium green leaves. This variety is particularly resistant to fungal diseases, heat, and drought. The remarkably long flowering period occurs from June-July to November, and it is nectariferous and melliferous. The flower is a 5 cm (2in) diameter head, well double and fully open, with several rows of white ligulate petals, surrounding a central compound disc of tiny golden flowers.
Watching zinnias grow is always a surprise. Capable of emerging from the ground in the most unlikely places, abandoned by many plants, their flowers thrive even in gravelly soils and under the scorching sun. Their bright colours blend so well with the relentless summer light and the clear gravel beaches that they can be allowed to grow even in patio cracks or in pathways. Even though they are born and die in the same year, it's worth enjoying their endless flowering to the limits of reason. They stand out in country-style flower beds and above low walls; their ardor can be tempered by pairing them with softer blooms, such as white or blue nigellas, cosmos, white gauras, or by placing them in the midst of light grasses like Stipa tenuifolia or Eragrostis trichoides. Of course, they can also be planted in pots to decorate the patio in summer, with almost no maintenance required.
Note: Please note that our plug plants are professional products intended for experienced gardeners: upon receipt, they should be transplanted and stored under cover (veranda, greenhouse, cold frame...) at a temperature above 14°C (57.2°F) for a few weeks before being planted outdoors once the risk of frost has been definitively eliminated.

Botanical data
Zinnias are easy-to-grow plants that are planted in the spring, when there is no longer a risk of frost. They prefer well-drained soils, even sandy or rocky ones, but fertile enough to support their flowering, and require a very sunny exposure. To prolong the flowering, remove faded flowers as they appear, so that the plant does not exhaust itself producing seeds.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
