Description

The 'Venosa' Clematis is an essential variety, with perpetual flowering, in violet veined with white, awarded the Courson merit in 1991.

This climbing clematis flowers repeatedly, blooming abundantly from June to September. It has large single flowers, with intensely violet petals on the edges, widely veined with white, creating a strong graphic effect. A vigorous variety that reaches 4-5m (13-16ft) in height, the 'Venosa' Clematis thrives on old walls, fences, and trees.

Easy to grow like all clematis, it prefers to be planted with its feet in cool partial shade and its head in the sun. Its worst enemy is excess water: it should be regularly watered, but in small amounts.

Our advice: pair it with campanulas, delphiniums, and artemisias.

Planting and care

Plant the 'Venosa' Clematis in a sunny location, shade the base of your plant with a ground cover plant or a perennial geranium. Clematis plants like to have their feet cool. Install your plant by covering the root ball with 3 cm (1in) of soil, in soil worked to a depth of 20 cm (8in), lightened with a good compost. During the first few weeks, water generously and regularly. Clematis plants attach themselves with their tendrils. To promote their growth, provide them with a trellis support or let them dress the trunk of a tree by placing a wire mesh at its base. Clematis plants also like to grow freely on neighbouring plants. We advise you not to water too much, as this can cause a fungus at the base of the clematis.
