Smooth delivery. Particularly efficient order tracking. It's very pleasant. Huge disappointment with this variety of ivy at €19.50 for a pot of 10x5cm (2in) and a height of 65cm (26in). In general, the plants are very young. For such a price, I expected plants that were at least 2-3 years old. Personally, I like the wide selection of your Nursery, but the prices do not reflect plants of good size. Therefore, I will rely on you as little as possible.

Description

Hedera helix 'Glacier' is a hardy Common Ivy characterised by its small variegated grey-green and silver foliage. An excellent climbing plant, it can cling to all semi-shaded supports to form a beautiful green wall.

This Ivy, with its fast growth, can reach up to 3m (10ft) in height. Its small, evergreen, triangular leaves with 3 lobes, measuring 4cm (2in) long, are carried by greyish branches with star-shaped hairs. The leaves attach themselves to the supports with powerful climbing roots. In autumn, the nectar from its inconspicuous flowers is an excellent source of food for bees, and the toxic berries are a winter food source for birds.

Hedera helix 'Glacier' thrives in any fertile, humus-rich, moist, and well-drained soil in a semi-shaded position and protected from winds. Its variegated foliage requires filtered light exposure. To promote faster growth of young shoots, secure the first ones to the ground (layering). Don't hesitate to rejuvenate the plant by removing old branches.

Hedera helix 'Glacier' is a good wall cover, but don't overuse it as it can quickly become invasive and even damage old walls or facades. Combine it with dense perennials to maintain the soil moisture at its base. It can also be grown in a pot.

Planting and care

Hedera helix 'Glacier', which is easy to grow, can be planted all year round in fertile, moist but well-drained soil, preferably against a wall in a semi-shaded position and sheltered from cold winds. To promote faster growth of young shoots, fix the first ones to the ground (layering). Do not hesitate to rejuvenate the plant by removing old branches. Prune regularly to shape it. For container cultivation, mix 7 parts of regular soil, 3 parts of compost, and 2 parts of sand. Water regularly and apply fertiliser every month during the growing season. Keep the substrate moist during winter.
