This garden hoe features a 1.35 m (4ft) ash wood handle reinforced with a socket and a hand-forged spring steel head with 3 sharpened tines. This tool allows for easy loosening and aerating of the soil in flower beds between plants, and for preparing the soil before sowing or planting. Tool guaranteed for 2 years.

The hand-forged 3-toothed spring steel rake from the Gschwind range is a sturdy and handy garden tool, very practical for working the soil on the surface in flower beds or in preparation for spring or autumn sowing and planting. Root vegetables can be gently mounded up with the hand-forged spring steel prongs. It is extremely strong and also withstands digging in compact soil thanks to its reinforced handle socket.

The garden rake, formerly known as a manure rake, was originally used to spread manure in the fields. It is now commonly called a garden hoe, and is used to prepare the soil for sowing and planting. It is used in ornamental gardens, and of course in the vegetable garden, preferably on soil that is not too wet or too compact. This tool allows you to:

  • "break up" the soil to a depth of about fifteen centimetres.
  • air the soil, make it looser, more flexible, and lighter.
  • scratch its surface by making back-and-forth movements.
  • break up clods of soil.
  • level and smooth the soil just before sowing or planting.
  • cover furrows after sowing, as it prevents the accumulation of stones, unlike a rake with closer teeth.
  • potentially harvest potatoes.

To maintain the beautiful appearance of your tool, we recommend cleaning it with a stiff brush after each use and storing it away from moisture. Once a year, you can sand the handle with fine sandpaper and then oil it with a mixture of linseed oil and turpentine. Dilute half and half, and for the handle to dry faster, use boiled linseed oil.
