The "peach me donut" peach tree arrived in very bad condition, most of the branches were broken, the bush was half out of its pot all broken, with one of the stakes from the other plants stuck in its roots... The package was really poorly protected, everything inside was damaged or almost everything... I called when I opened the package, I was told to accept it because it would be faster for them to re-send me what was damaged; I sent the form with photos but the customer service then refused to re-send anything! I had trust because of some good reviews, but the quality seems to be irregular and the customer service was deplorable, without even apologizing for this lack of protection and packaging during transport... If this happens to you, do not accept the package, the response from customer service was unworthy of their promises!! I was thinking of ordering other plants from them but it's better to look elsewhere, I will call this site "beautiful promises but no flowers" if the shipments are not more careful and if the customer service persists like this!

Description

The Fruit Me Peach Me Donut Dwarf Peach is a brand new self-fertile variety with rapid fruiting, which adapts its growth to the volume of soil available, making it an ideal fruit tree for container gardening on a patio or balcony. This small tree produces beautiful flat peaches with a velvety red-washed skin and white flesh that is soft, sweet, and slightly acidic. They can be harvested from late June, depending on the region.

The peach, or Prunus persica Fruit me Donut, is part of a series of semi-dwarf fruit trees that are quite revolutionary and have recently been developed in Spain. All the fruit trees in this range are grafted onto a state-of-the-art rootstock that adapts to the available soil volume while allowing for high-quality fruiting, even in the early years of cultivation. The Fruit me range of fruit trees is also easy to grow, hardy, reliable, and resistant to diseases.

The species name 'persica' of Prunus persica was given to the ancestor of all our peaches because it was thought to originate from Persia. In reality, all cultivated forms are native to northern China. Its appearance in Europe occurred in the 6th century and experienced significant development in the 19th century. From there, numerous selections were made to improve the fruit's taste qualities. In recent years, dwarf fruit trees have emerged, using a particular grafting technique on rootstocks selected for their dwarfing ability. These fruit trees have small growth and adapt well to container gardening, bearing fruit at a young age. When grown in the ground, they will have slightly more significant development.

Like many fruit trees, the Peach Me Donut Dwarf Peach prefers light, rich, and deep soils, and it does not tolerate excessive water or heavy and compacted soils. A sunny location sheltered from the wind will aid in fruiting. It is a low-vigor tree with slow growth, reaching a maximum height of 2m (7ft) with a spread of 1.25m (4ft) when fully grown in the ground. It will be smaller in a container, adapting its growth to the available soil quantity. Its naturally narrow habit does not require pruning.

Its glossy dark green foliage emits a slight almond scent when crushed. The leaves are 8 to 15 cm (3 to 6in) long and 3 to 4 cm (1 to 2in) wide, with short petioles that attach them to the branches. Before falling in autumn, they take on beautiful yellow-orange colours. Its pink flowering, which starts in mid-March, is highly ornamental. The flowers are hermaphroditic and self-fertile, so the presence of another peach tree nearby is not necessary to obtain fruit.

In the kitchen: Peaches can be enjoyed raw, cooked, sweet, savoury, flambéed, glazed, or deglazed. They pair well with wine and certain meats, such as duck. They can be found in numerous recipes, including jams, compotes, pastries, and can also be preserved for winter use, in Alsatian-style tarts, Bourdalou tarts, or fruit salads.

Planting and care

The Fruit Me Peach Me Donut Peach Tree is preferably planted from October to December in open ground, but can be planted in a pot all year round. Dig a hole two to three weeks before planting, twice as wide and deep as the pot. On the day, place the tree with its pot in a basin of water, in order to moisten the entire root ball by capillarity. Place compost at the bottom of the hole. Plant the tree in the hole, fill with a mixture of soil and compost. Gently pack around the base of the tree as you fill, ensuring that the roots are in close contact with the soil. The root ball should be completely covered. Water generously.

The peach tree also prefers a light and well-draining soil. Choose a sunny location sheltered from strong winds.

Pot cultivation: regularly apply fertilizer for fruit trees. Choose a pot with a minimum diameter of 40 cm (16in) and a depth of 50 cm (20in), with holes at the bottom. Place gravel or clay balls at the bottom of the pot for better drainage. The soil will dry out more or less quickly: water regularly, especially to help the fruits grow and ripen.

Remove the branches in the center that are interlacing and shorten the longer ones that extend outwards in order to maintain a harmonious habit.
