Description
The Luzula sylvatica Variegata has a stoloniferous but non-invasive stump forming a large cushion over time. The evergreen leaves, arranged in long, wide and flexible strips, are a stunning dark green with a delicate cream edging. The small brown flowers are carried on slender spikes.
An excellent hardy plant for shade, the woodrush loves shaded environments and, as its name suggests, thrives under trees or small bushes in dry shade. Plant it on slopes or borders, alongside epimediums, periwinkles (Vinca), bigroot geranium or coral bells.
