Description

Asphodeline lutea, also known as Jacob's Staff, is a perennial that in spring produces large flower stalks with large star-shaped yellow flowers.

It grows in dense clumps, slowly spreading and forming large bluish-green leaf blades. Asphodeline lutea prefers warm and dry conditions, but can also adapt well in cooler regions as long as the soil is very well drained. The grass-like appearance of the foliage pairs well with broad or rounded-leaf plants in a rock garden or scree garden.
