So disappointed I've never had a single flower even though I bought them in 2019. I have plenty of leaves, that's all. I'm very disappointed.

Description

The Agapanthus Double Diamond is a new variety known for its compact size and stunning pure white double flowers. It blooms from July to August, producing beautiful globular umbels of flowers around 10cm (3.9 inches) in diameter. The flowers are carried on short stems, only about 30cm (11.8 inches) in height. The trumpet-shaped double flowers are pure white, and when cut and placed in a vase, they can bring freshness to any home. The foliage of the agapanthus is evergreen, especially in mild climates and remains decorative throughout the year.

This plant is not hardy and cannot tolerate temperatures below -5°C. Planting the Agapanthus Double Diamond in a pot placed on a sunny terrace to ensure abundant flowering is best. If you're planting it in the ground, choose a warm exposure in a mixed border, perennial bed, or border. It can also be grown on its own. This plant thrives by the seaside, in an English cottage, and even in a city garden.

Planting and care

The Double Diamond Agapanthus needs to be grown in a warm, protected location and faces south, getting full sun. The plant can endure drought well, but it requires rich, moist soil and particularly well-drained soil during winter. Water it twice a week in the growing season, but do not water it while it is dormant. During winter, the Agapanthus is susceptible to excessive moisture and doesn't like waterlogged soil. Therefore, it's recommended to mulch the base with a 20 cm (7.9 in) thick layer of dead leaves over the base of the plant and cover it with a mesh to prevent wind damage. Snow is also an excellent protection against excessive moisture and cold. Bring the plant indoors for protection if you're planting the Agapanthus in a pot. When planting it, ensure the fleshy roots are covered with leaf compost and planted at a depth of 30 cm (11.8 in). Once it's established in the ground, avoid disturbing it. In autumn, remove dead leaves and trim the faded stems so the plant doesn't exhaust itself by producing seeds.
