Description

We offer you a Collection of 3 Astilbes. It consists of:

1 Astilbe Erika

1 Astilbe Fanal

1 Astilbe Purpurkerze

The Astilbe Fanal develop paniculate plumes, composed of tiny flowers. In early summer, the inflorescences dry in shades of brown and remain attractive throughout the winter.

In a vase, the fresh flowers are superb, but they quickly fade. Plant them in a moist and shady flower bed with other perennials. They like to be in a woodland area or by the water's edge.

Planting and care

To install, work your soil to a depth of 20 cm (8in), crumbling the soil well and adding a base amendment such as dried blood or horn at the bottom of the planting hole. Position your plant, freed from its pot, covering the top of the root ball with 3 cm (1in) of soil. Fill in the hole and water generously to eliminate air pockets. In dry weather it is necessary to water regularly for a few weeks to facilitate rooting. Astilbes thrive in a marshy area, in a sunny or partially shaded location. They do not tolerate chalky soil that dries out in summer. Spring frosts can damage the flowers and young leaves.
