It was complicated, the young plant was first planted in a too sunny location, but survived the 2022 drought. I moved it and this year, the first flowers appeared, but the plants are much smaller than what I imagined.

Description

Brunnera macrophylla Variegata or the Great Forget-me-not is a perennial that grows in forests in Eastern Europe and Northwestern Asia. It is cultivated for its delicate flowers that resemble forget-me-nots and its groundcover habit that forms a thick carpet of deciduous leaves. In April-May, magnificent deep blue flowers appear, measuring 6 to 8 mm (1in) in diameter, and are clustered in panicles (cone-shaped clusters) that are at least 20 cm (8in) long.

The foliage of Siberian bugloss is medium green with wide cream-white markings, lanceolate to ovate in shape. The heart-shaped leaves measure 5 to 20 cm (2 to 8in) long and have soft hairs. They are highly decorative in pots and in the garden.  Brunnera reaches a height of 50 cm (20in) at maturity. This perennial has spring interest and is very hardy to -20°C (1°F).

Brunnera macrophylla Variegata thrives in the moisture of partial shade. It is a good border plant and is well-suited for wild gardens or informal perennial beds.  It pairs well with spring-blooming flowering bulbs and other perennials. Ideal for planting with tulips.
