Campanula glomerata Alba

Campanula glomerata Alba bears pretty white bell-shaped flowers, grouped in clusters, at the top of stems.

This rhizomatous perennial has a bushy habit and spreads with upright, stiff tufts. These stems bear terminal clusters of single tubular bell-shaped flowers, measuring 2 to 4 cm (1 to 2in) long, from May onwards. The pure white flowers are carried at a height of 60cm (24in).

The leaves of the Campanula glomerata Alba are ovate to lanceolate, with rounded teeth. They measure 5 to 10 cm (2 to 4in) long and are dark green and deciduous. This perennial is native to Europe, except for the North, Turkey, and Asia, and it has excellent hardiness.

Campanulas are interesting for their long flowering period and ease of cultivation. Place them in a cool corner of the garden, and they will spread over the years. The glomerata variety thrives in perennial beds and large semi-shaded rockeries. The delicate colour of the flowers is better preserved in this exposure. Campanula is a decorative plant that enhances bouquets. Butterflies appreciate it. If it disappears due to drought, it will reappear with the rain.
