Description

Chrysanthemum Mary Stoker is hardy with abundant single flowers between 2 to 5 cm (1 to 2in) in diameter, yellow apricot tinted with pink. The centre changes from green to yellow as the flower opens.

Plant this perennial chrysanthemum in full sun, in rich, light, and moist soil. It is particularly interesting when combined with grasses: Carex, Stipa, and Pennisetum.

Planting and care

Plant in well-drained soil in a sunny to partially shady position. When the plants reach a height of 15 to 20 cm (6 to 8in), pinch the tips of the stems to encourage branching. A second pinching in the summer will result in more flowers, but they will be smaller. Water two or three times a week and apply a liquid fertiliser for flowering plants every eight days from July until the buds start to colour.
