The collection consists of:
- x 1 Convallaria majalis: the botanical species with white flowers, the "florist's lily of the valley".
- x 1 Convallaria majalis 'Rosea': its flowers are pale pink.
Convallaria majalis, commonly known as Lily of the valley or May lily, is a deciduous perennial, highly resistant to cold, that grows up to 2000m (6562ft) altitude. Lily of the valley colonizes the ground through its fleshy roots over large areas if the conditions suit it. The floral stem, 20 to 25cm (8 to 10in) tall, emerges from large leaves between April and late May depending on the climate, for 2 to 3 weeks. Its foliage dries up in autumn and re-emerges in spring.
Plant this duo of lilies of the valley at the edge of the undergrowth, along a path or against an east-facing wall, in well-cultivated soil lightened with compost. Planting can be done in autumn or early spring. Allow for 4 to 5 plants per square meter. By placing it near a frequently visited area, you can enjoy its fragrance more often and picking the flowers will be easier. You can associate the lily of the valley with small 'Flower Power' periwinkles, bleeding hearts, Liriopes, or dead nettles, for example. However, make sure it does not smother its neighbors.

Planting and care
Grow Convallaria majalis in a pot or at the edge of a ideally semi-shaded bed, in a soil rich in humus (or compost), soft and light. However, it adapts to many growing conditions, tolerating well a morning sun exposure in cool climates, in a garden soil lightened if necessary with the addition of compost and sand. It needs some freshness throughout the year (even in summer) to flower and spread well. In case of very dry summers or in Mediterranean regions, some spaced waterings will be welcome. This plant has few enemies and requires very little maintenance.
