Description

Delphinium or Larkspur 'Casa Blanca' is a very floriferous perennial with white flowers. The single flowers are cup-shaped and measure 2 to 4cm (1 to 2in) in diameter. They have spurs that are 1.5 to 3cm (1in) long. These flowers are perched on sturdy stems carrying imposing branching spikes.

The 'Casa Blanca' variety has a long flowering period from June to September. Its green leaves are deciduous. It is a very hardy perennial.

Ranging from 1 to 1.50m (3 to 5ft) in height and from 30 to 45cm (12 to 18in) in width, it stands out in gardens. It can be planted in borders, rockeries, and flower beds. These flowers can be used to create lovely bouquets. This easy-to-grow Delphinium thrives in sunny exposures. The 'Belladonna' Group is more disease-resistant than other Delphiniums.

Note: From March to September, the stems of our Delphiniums are pruned short to encourage better branching from the stump and achieve optimal rooting. This pruning also prevents the stems from breaking during transportation.

Planting and care

Delphinium 'Casa Blanca' is planted in full sun or partial shade, sheltered from strong winds. Plant it in a rich, moist but well-drained soil. It dislikes heavy and wet soils, as well as poor and dry soils. Plant Delphiniums in spring, after the last frost. Very easy to grow; water regularly to maintain vegetation and apply liquid fertilizer every two to three weeks during growth. Stake if necessary. Remove faded flowers by cutting the spikes at the level of the small lateral flowering shoots. Cut back the entire plant to ground level in autumn, adding a humus-bearing and well-draining mulch. Leave a minimum of two or three shoots on young plants and five to seven on well-established delphiniums. Slugs should be monitored. This Belladonna Group is more disease-resistant than other Delphinium species.
