Very lovely young plant, delicate and beautiful. We just have to wait until next year to see these splendid flowers bloom.

Description

Easy to grow, the Epimedium pubigerum has tough and evergreen leaves, it produces a cloud of small cream-white flowers in spring, carried on loose spikes.

The Epimedium pubigerum is a pretty compact species. Its foliage, tough and thick, is evergreen and regenerates in spring. It bears small cream-white flowers on loose spikes, facing upwards. It is an easy to grow species, very cold resistant, capable of growing in shade, under trees or on slopes.

Originally from Asia and Europe to North Africa, epimediums are excellent ground covers for shade. More tolerant but less showy in flowers, Western species tolerate growing conditions such as dry shade and withstand heavy or limestone soils. Asian species, more aesthetic, prefer moist soils, especially in summer, rich in humus, and appreciate shaded situations.

Flowering occurs in March for the earliest ones and until June for the latest ones. The foliage is evergreen in over 90% of the species and regenerates in spring, giving way to a young decorative foliage often streaked or marbled with brown, copper or red depending on the varieties.

A magnificent species to associate with Carex oshimensis 'Evergold', Brunnera macrophylla 'Mr Morse' or Geranium macrorrhizum 'Spessart'.
