The incredible vibrant colour of this perennial will blend wonderfully with the blue and purple summer flowers. Its flowers, a nearly fluorescent yellow-green, light up sunny flowerbeds and brighten those in partial shade. It thrives in humus-bearing and moist soils that do not dry out.

Description

The Euphorbia cornigera 'Goldener Turm' is a perennial with very vibrant shades. Its flowers, which bloom from July to August, are a very light yellowish green and adorned with bracts of the same color. It is these bracts that contribute to diffusing the unique light emanating from their color. They therefore work wonders in semi-shaded areas. However, 'Goldener Turm' also appreciates a sunny exposure, prefers a rather humiferous, well-drained but not too dry soil. The green leaves, with a lighter central vein, even cream-colored, are deciduous and the plant can withstand frosts down to -15°C (5°F). Just before falling, the leaves take on a reddish autumnal hue.

There are many and varied Euphorbias in terms of their characteristics. Their common point for most of them is always a very decorative foliage and flowering. The long, upright, flexible stems of the 'Goldener Turm' variety, start from the base and form a rather tall bushy clump. They are covered with lanceolate leaves up to the tops topped with inflorescences. These are grouped in cymes of 5 cm (2in) in height and covered with numerous small cyathia (this name is mainly attributed to Euphorbias). Do not hesitate to observe them closely, they are very subtle. Euphorbias are quite essential in beds: a voluminous habit that gives volume, long-lasting foliage, and brightly colored flowers.

The color palette of the Euphorbia cornigera ;Goldener Turm; perfectly matches the blue and purple of its companion plants in summer. Especially in front of Delphiniums and Aconites, and behind perennial Geraniums. This combination is splendid. However, they deserve to be grouped together in a unique massif in order to unleash their brilliance and enhance the slightly recessed spaces in the garden.

Planting and care

Install the 'Goldener Turm' Horned Spurge in a rich, light and humus-bearing soil. It should be properly drained and should not dry out in summer. Therefore, it is sometimes necessary to incorporate a bit of gravel (especially in clayey soils) during planting and to water in case of drought. Choose a sunny exposure if your land tends to retain moisture. Otherwise, it will also thrive in partial shade.
