Third and final big disappointment of this last order received... 9/9 pots with a stem of about ten cm topped with a plume of three or 4 leaves that look sad to see.. However, a very positive point, all the plants were very well packaged and have withstood the journey very well.

Description

The Euphorbia griffithii 'Fireglow' is a rhizomatous perennial with brown-purple foliage and bright red-orange flowers. This Euphorbia has a bushy habit and can reach 60 cm (24in) in height.

Its deciduous foliage turns red and yellow in autumn. It should be planted in spring or autumn in a light and moist soil, but it is sensitive to excess water in winter. Used as a border or in a bed, this perennial appreciates a sunny or semi-shaded exposure. Once established, it does not like to be moved! Beware, the white latex contained in the stems, leaves, and roots is toxic.

Combine it with brightly coloured tulips to add contrast to your beds.

Planting and care

Plant the Euphorbia griffithii 'Fireglow' in full sun or in partially shaded areas in a moist and rich soil. Its planting period occurs in the heart of spring (April-May) or at the beginning of autumn. Euphorbias do not tolerate being moved, their roots are prone to injuries. Therefore, when the euphorbia is doing well in a location, it easily spreads. Handle euphorbias with caution: the latex that oozes from euphorbias is irritating to the skin and causes inflammation. Mulch around the stumps with gravel to limit weeds and soil compaction due to precipitation. Prune the floral stems once the inflorescences have completely withered to avoid contact with the latex. Winter pruning does not cause any issues as the sap is not abundant.
