Description

Galega hartlandii Lady Wilson forms bushy clumps of loose stems with very finely cut, light green foliage accompanied by large bicoloured flowers, mauve pink and white, with a delicate vanilla fragrance.

A very robust perennial plant, this hybrid Galega is more compact than the species from which it originated. Easy to grow, it likes moist and light soils. It will thrive in the sun in a wild bed or a neat mixed border, alongside bush roses, bellflowers, campions, salvias, and burnets.

Planting and care

Galega hartlandii Lady Wilson grows in any well-drained, moist soil, preferably in the sun in more northern regions. Over time it can become invasive when it thrives - a characteristic that you can take advantage of by planting it in a large border of perennial plants alongside Thermopsis, Baptisia, oriental poppies, salvias, etc. Vigorous pruning of the stems in early summer causes a slight reblooming in September.
