Description

Deciduous perennial plant, the Bloody Cranesbill 'Album' is adapted to poor and rocky soil. Perennial geraniums are good ground cover plants highly appreciated for their ease of cultivation, as well as the abundance and duration of their flowering.

In early summer, the Geranium sanguineum bears large pure white flowers. Its flowering stems continue to grow after flowering. The cup-shaped flowers measure 4 cm (2in) in diameter. Its foliage, deciduous, very dense, is deeply incised. The name "sanguineum" is dedicated to its apple green foliage, which changes color at the end of the season to become yellow-orange with red tones, this coloring intensifying in autumn as the temperature range increases.

A beautiful border plant, the Geranium sanguineum 'Album' grows in well-drained soil and in the sun.

Planting and care

To install your Geranium sanguineum Album, work the soil to a depth of 20 cm (8in), crumble the soil well, and place an amendment such as dried blood or dehydrated bone/horn in the planting hole. Position your plant, removed from its pot, by covering the top of the root ball with 3 cm (1in) of soil, fill in the hole and water generously to remove any air pockets. In dry weather, it is necessary to water regularly for a few weeks to facilitate establishment.
