As is usual at this time, the young plant is almost devoid of foliage, there is only a clump of roots. I hope that in spring it will reappear, it is too early to be satisfied.

Description

Helenium 'Rubinzwerg' is a must-have for colourful summer flower beds. Its flowers, a mahogany red with a dark brown almost black centre, bloom from July to October, welcoming autumn enthusiastically with numerous pollinators. This hardy perennial thrives in ordinary soil, as long as it doesn't dry out too much, and prefers sunny exposures.

Heleniums stand tall with their long upright stems (80cm (32in)), adorned with alternate, sessile, lanceolate leaves. At the end of these leaves sway the heads, with tubular flowers gathered in a prominent cone that swells to form a small round cushion, very dark brown, gradually punctuated with yellow tips. It is surrounded by ligulate flowers, slightly notched at the end into 3 to 5 teeth, and their red color is particularly flamboyant. It is a lively and warm palette that remains present all summer and comes to life in the breeze and with winged visitors.

If you are creating a rainbow flower bed, look no further for red: Helenium 'Rubinzwerg' will proudly represent it! This perennial will find its place in the middle of the flower bed, surrounded by grasses, Heucheras, and sturdier companions that will fill the space left by its slender habit. Easy to grow, resistant to diseases, and suitable for creating beautiful bouquets, it will thrive in many climates and only needs a little grooming to remove faded flowers.
