Helianthus salicifolius

Helianthus salicifolius is a tall perennial with foliage that resembles willow leaves and large yellow flowers similar to daisies.

This tall sun-loving non-running perennial has sturdy, upright, leafy stems from top to bottom. The leaves, narrow like those of a willow, curiously cascade like an umbrella. In late summer, the tall stems bear small, golden yellow daisy-like flowers at their tips.

Easy to grow and completely hardy, Helianthus salicifolius thrives in light but, like many tall perennials, requires adequate moisture in the soil.

For a striking visual effect, plant it at the back of a border on its own or alongside tall grasses, Phormiums or large Kniphofias.
