Helleborus sternii

The Corsican Hellebore (Helleborus argutifolius), with its glaucous leaves and green flowers, which is hardy, has been crossed with the beautiful Majorcan Hellebore (Helleborus lividus), which has a compact habit, small often marbled leaves, and stems and flowers in shades of plum. This hybrid Hellebore therefore possesses the qualities of its parents, namely dense foliage, the ability to grow in dry soil and even tolerate rocky and chalky soils, stems often tinged with brown or plum, lovely cut leaves in shades of green, blue, and grey, and well-held flowers carried in clusters and tinted with shades of green, plum, or garnet. In short, Helleborus sternii has the ornamental and cultural qualities of its parents, without their flaws.
