Description

Bright and vibrant, Heuchera 'Electric Lime' has young canary-yellow foliage that starts off uniformly coloured, then turns chartreuse-green and becomes electrified with brown veins as it ages.

A vigorous perennial, this new heuchera blooms from June to July. It produces cream-white flowers in small bells clustered along an upright stem. Its flowers are accompanied by magnificent evergreen canary-yellow leaves in spring, turning chartreuse-green and adorned with brown veins.

At maturity, Heuchera 'Electric Lime' reaches a height of 30 cm (12 in) with a spread of 40 cm (16 in).

Heuchera can be found in rock gardens and shady areas, as well as in borders and large beds. It can also be grown in containers on patios. The inflorescences are often used in fresh bouquets.

Heuchera 'Electric Lime' blends in beautifully in green and white gardens: pair it with Hydrangea paniculata 'Little Lime' or 'Limelight' and green-toned perennials such as Echinacea 'Green Jewel', Alchemilla mollis, and Heuchera 'Mint Julep'.

Planting and care

Prepare a planting hole of 20 cm x 20 cm x 20 cm (8 in x 8 in x 8 in). If your soil is heavy, mix some compost with the crumbled soil, partially fill the hole, and place your bucket (after removing the pot) so that the top of the plant's root ball is covered with 3 cm (1 in) of soil. Adding a base fertiliser (dried blood or crushed horn) will nourish your plant during its rooting period without risk of burning. Firm the soil and water generously to eliminate air pockets. If the weather is dry, you will need to water regularly for a few weeks to encourage your plant's establishment. The woody stump tends to emerge from the ground, so mulch every year. Heucheras renew their foliage in late winter, so we recommend cutting back the previous year's leaves in January and February.
