Description

For neutral to limestone soil, these are excellent ground cover plants for sun or partial shade. They develop delicate ivory flower spikes in June and July, which are extraordinary as cut flowers. Excellent ground cover and very decorative when combined with hostas and brunneras (categories of hostas and beautiful foliage) as well as in decorative pots for 9 months out of 12. Bright golden to aniseed-green foliage. Plant sold individually, in a 9 cm (4 in) bucket.

Neutral to limestone fresh soil. Height 35 cm (14 in). Use 7 per square metre (3 square feet).

Planting and care

Prepare a planting hole measuring 20 cm x 20 cm x 20 cm (8 in x 8 in x 8 in). If your soil is heavy, mix a bit of compost with the crumbled soil, partially refill the hole, and place your bucket (after removing the pot) so that the top of the young plant's root ball is covered with 3 cm (1 in) of soil. The addition of a basal fertiliser (dried blood or crushed horn) will nourish your plant during its rooting period without risk of burning. Firm the soil and water generously to eliminate air pockets. If the weather is dry, you will need to water regularly for a few weeks to encourage the establishment of your plant. In late winter, heucheras renew their foliage, so we recommend cutting back the old foliage in January or February.
