Pretty little clear young plant arrived very fresh. I planted it in a pot with its little cuttie friend and the ensemble looks lovely. I will separate them when they are bigger.

Description

Heuchera Blondie in Lime is a very recent hybrid heuchera, with a particularly compact habit and fruity colours, which will be a sensation in borders in the garden but also in flowering pots on the terrace or balcony. It develops evergreen foliage of a tangy lime-green, from which a light flowering emerges, consisting of stems filled with countless small pale yellow-green flowers, forming a harmonious and refreshing display. It will flower throughout the summer season, planted in a fresh but well-drained soil, in a non-burning or partially shaded location.

Developed by the American company Terra Nova Nurseries, Heuchera Blondie in Lime is part of the 'Little Cutie' series of hybrid heucheras, characterised by a very compact habit particularly suitable for containers and rockeries, a long flowering period, and bold and vibrant colours. These plants can also be grown indoors, to the delight of gardeners without a garden.

Heuchera 'Blondie in Lime' belongs to the Saxifragaceae family and forms a small spreading clump, 12 to 15 cm (5 to 6 in) tall and 20 to 25 cm (8 to 10 in) wide for the foliage. Flowering stems, 20 to 25 cm (8 to 10 in) tall, emerge from June to September, up to 20 on a single plant. The simplicity of its colours, lime-green for the foliage and tangy pale yellow for the flowers, allows for numerous combinations with other varieties of heucheras, as well as perennials with brighter and more pronounced hues. The evergreen leaves of this heuchera are small, rounded and strongly veined. The particularly long, light and airy flowering consists of small bell-shaped flowers arranged along an upright stem. This plant has a shallow root system and tolerates summer drought fairly well but will be more beautiful and floriferous in fresh soil.

Heuchera 'Blondie in Lime' can be planted in the ground in a border, in a shaded and fresh rockery, or in a pot. In a line in front of a massif or along a pathway, this heuchera will bring dynamism to the garden. Pair it with hostas, grasses, and ferns for a wild effect. It also makes a good companion for shrubs and roses, planted in undergrowth areas. In a rockery, place a dark-coloured mulch at its feet, contrasting with its beautiful foliage. Finally, it makes for an ideal ground cover with remarkable colours. Pair this heuchera with blue, pink, or orange flowers. This small heuchera is an ideal plant for filling your pots, containers, and flower beds. A good cut flower, the delicate bell-shaped flowers of this plant add a lot of lightness to bouquets.

Heucheras, with slender stems and tiny bells, were very fashionable in the 19th century in all European gardens. It was the Impressionist painters who nicknamed them "Despair of the Painter", having probably tried in vain to depict them in their art.

Planting and care

Heuchera 'Blondie in Lime' can be planted in spring or autumn, either in the ground or in a container. It prefers shady or semi-shaded positions and any type of soil, as long as it is well drained and moist. It can tolerate temporary periods of drought, but make sure to water it if the following summer is particularly dry, or mulch around the base. However, it does not tolerate intense sunlight. It can withstand sun or heat as long as the roots are kept in moist soil. Maintenance is limited to lightly cleaning the foliage at the end of winter if it has dried out.
