'Pluie de Feu' Heuchera is a variety of heuchera that used to be found in every flower garden, as this perennial is easy to grow and generous. From spring to summer, it produces a multitude of tiny intensely red-pink flowers, carried by tall, slender and sturdy stems, towering over a clump of elegantly discreet leaves, pressed against the ground, marbled with green and silver. Gardeners often return to reliable, robust and faithful plants. And this 'Pluie de Feu' heuchera is one of them. It brightens the edges of pathways for many weeks, illuminates the base of deciduous trees, in light sun or partial shade.
In recent years, heucheras have become essential perennial plants in our gardens. Their foliage, more or less evergreen in winter, available in multiple shades, brightens up flower beds brilliantly. These plants from the Saxifragaceae family make fantastic border plants. They also yield excellent results in pots, thus being able to decorate even a modest terrace. 'Pluie de Feu' heuchera reaches approximately 40 cm (16in) in height and 30 cm (12in) in width, its delicate inflorescences will rise above a rosette of rounded and lobed leaves. The latter, more or less marbled with silver-grey on a green background, will persist in winter if the cold is not too severe.
Plant this 'Pluie de Feu' heuchera in large numbers, to achieve a very ground-covering effect, with a spectacular flowering. You can also associate it with other varieties of heucheras in various colours, such as 'Tiramisu' or 'Miracle'. Conversely, you can play with contrasting flowers, like the 'Cappucino' heuchera. Don't hesitate to combine this robust heuchera with your white, pink, purple or crimson roses, and add some campanulate flowers in white or blue. Without pretension, this perennial will also find its place near a peach tree or plum tree, for example, these fruit trees will provide it with a light shade that it will appreciate in summer.

Botanical data
Plant your Heuchera 'Pluie de Feu' in spring or early autumn. Prepare a planting hole of 20 cm (8in) x 20 cm (8in) x 20 cm (8in). If your soil is heavy, mix some compost and sand with the crumbled soil, partially fill and place your bucket (after removing the pot) so that the top of the root ball of your plant is covered with 3 cm (1in) of soil. The addition of a base fertiliser (dehydrated blood, horn powder) will nourish your plant during its rooting period without the risk of burning. Firm the soil and water thoroughly to eliminate air pockets. If the weather is dry, you will need to water regularly for a few weeks to facilitate the establishment of your plant. Afterwards, you will only water in case of prolonged drought or heatwave. Heucheras renew their foliage at the end of winter, we recommend cutting back the leaves from the previous year in January, February.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
