Planting and care

It thrives in full sun or partial shade. Plant it in ordinary, moist soil, as it is suitable for all types of soil. Place the young plant at a depth of 5 to 8cm (2 to 3in), preferably in autumn. Space the plants 50cm (20in) apart. Avoid excess moisture when it is not in the growing season. Protect it with mulch in spring (March-April) and at the end of autumn (November-December) if you are in a cold region. It is an easy perennial for a cottage garden.
