Very short lifespan as far as I'm concerned: only one out of the three plants still remaining.

Description

The Leucanthemum superbum 'Wirral Supreme' or garden daisy is a tall herbaceous perennial with double collarettes of snowy white ligules and a sun-yellow heart. The size of the inflorescence is exceptional.

The Leucanthemum superbum is an Asteraceae native to Europe. The 'Wirral Supreme' variety is a horticultural selection that offers double flowering between August and September, with an exceptional size (between 7 and 10 cm (3 and 4in) in diameter). The heads are composed of a first and a second collar of snowy white florets around a sun-yellow heart. The ligules of the second, more central collar are shorter than those of the first, giving a slightly fluffy and raised appearance to this lovely late summer daisy. The glossy green deciduous leaves are alternate, lanceolate, and deeply dentate. The habit is very bushy, upright, but not heavily branched.

This plant thrives in neutral, moist soil, but can tolerate slightly acidic or alkaline soils. It is a very beautiful variety with double flowers that brings innocence and freshness to summer flower beds. It will be delightful in the company of silver candles, sanguisorbas, and purple astilbes in colourful masses in a country garden or sporadically in a meadow. Additionally, it makes excellent cut flowers with a long-lasting beauty. Divide the plants in early spring or late summer. Protect young plants from slugs and snails. Cut back faded stems in autumn.

Planting and care

They especially fear heavy and overly wet soils in winter. They prefer a deep and cool soil, but healthy, very well-drained. They fear compact and heavy soil, with a tendency to be too clayey.
