Description

The Lithodora diffusa Cambridge Blue differs from other grommets by the color of its flowers which are a soft blue almost purple. The Lithodora are delightful undershrub tapetums that are covered in flowers in spring.

The flowers are star-shaped trumpets, they stand out perfectly against a beautiful dark green foliage that is semi-evergreen, giving a luminous effect.

This plant thrives in the company of heathers for example, as their requirements are similar. It is also a good rockery plant and it thrives in dry and well-drained soils.

Planting and care

Like heathers, the Lithodora diffusa Cambridge Blue hates limestone but can tolerate a poor, sandy soil, even a clay soil as long as it is very well-drained. Good drainage improves the hardiness of this plant, making it highly resistant to winter cold.
