Description
The Persicaria microcephala Red Dragon is a magnificent perennial, cultivated not for its small white spike flowers, but for its surprising brown-purple foliage, maculated with an upside-down V, black highlighted with silver.
Â
Its large fleshy stems of brown-purple colour are first upright in spring, then gracefully arch to form a 80cm (32in) to 1m (3ft) tall habit. This vine-plant, mainly grown for its foliage and decorative habit, is magnificent mixed with heucheras, Carex elata Aurea, Lysimachia puncata or perennial geraniums.
Easy to grow and very hardy, Persicaria Red Dragon likes sun or partial shade and enjoys the freshness and even the humidity of heavy and rich soil.
