Description

The Pulsatilla vulgaris 'Red Cloak' or the 'Rouge Red Cloak' Pulsatilla is a charming perennial with spring flowers in the shape of a deep red cup with a yellow heart. It will add volume and life to your flower beds.

The 'Red Cloak' Pulsatilla is a perennial that forms a dense clump, reaching a height and spread of 20 to 30 cm (8 to 12in). It blooms intensely red with a yellow heart during the months of March to May on silver stems. Its foliage, appearing later, is medium green and covered with silver hairs. It will surprise you with its finely cut leaves. After flowering, fluffy seeds will appear and extend the appeal of its flowering.

Easy to grow, the Pulsatilla vulgaris has good hardiness (-20°C (-4°F)). It thrives in a cool, well-drained, deep, light, humus-bearing soil and tolerates limestone well.

Plant it in flower beds, mixed borders, or rock gardens, in combination with hebes, sedums, or nepetas. This variety enjoys sunny or semi-shaded exposures.
