Thank you to the team (for order preparation and shipping), the rose bush I received looks healthy. Planted in the ground, close to the 'Kathleen' variety, I am now patiently waiting for it to thrive... or not?

Description

Rosa 'Coral Dawn' is a repeat-flowering climbing rose. It first blooms in June and again in late summer. The pearly-pink petals of the flowers are fragrant and the rose is of good size. Despite its qualities, 'Coral Dawn' is not yet widely spread in gardens, so it will bring a unique touch to your beds.

This highly vigorous climbing rose can be trained on small fences or pergolas. It can also be grown as a flowering bush. Consider mixing climbing roses with a clematis, as it will extend the flowering period of your garden.

'Coral Dawn' is a modern climbing rose, meaning it comes from a third generation of hybridisation. Breeders have been searching for roses that are more resistant to our climate conditions and diseases, and have been looking for new roses to expand the range of colours and fragrances, and increase the size of the flowers.

Breeding by Boerner, 1952.

Planting and care

It prefers sunny locations. It tolerates excessive limestone, but does not like it. It will adapt to any garden if the soil is well-worked and rich enough. To plant your rose, prepare the soil by crumbling it and adding an amendment (dried blood or dehydrated horn) at the bottom of the planting hole. Water generously after planting to remove any air pockets. Water regularly for a few weeks to facilitate rooting.

Roses are often stained or unsightly at the end of summer, but this does not affect their development. These spots are not harmful to the rose and are a natural phenomenon.

Care

Pruning instructions Spring pruning involves removing a portion of the old branches at the base each year, thus maintaining a framework while rejuvenating the rose. Trim the branches from the current year to 3 or 4 buds. To achieve abundant flowering in your roses, regularly bend and tie the branches that can grow up to 1m (3ft) per week in summer. Each bend leads to lateral growth that ends in a bouquet of flowers. Remove faded flowers to encourage new buds to form
