Vine-plant arrived in excellent condition, vigorous. However, a few leaves are carrying black spots. I am eagerly awaiting spring to see if the roses will be as beautiful as those advertised on the information sheet.

The Rosebush 'Julie Andrieu' (Delstrirocrem) bears fleshy flowers with a classic shape and highly double petals, reminiscent of old-fashioned roses, but astonishingly colourful: the numerous striped petals in shades of pink on a white to cream-yellow background swirl around a tightly coiled and turbinated bright yellow centre. This rather original colour remains harmonious and full of softness. Their floral and indulgent fragrance reveals notes of red fruits, peaches and apricots. Dressed in glossy and healthy foliage, it generously covers itself in bouquets from June until the first frosts. This large bush with a shrubby habit can easily be trained as a climber. Give it a prime spot in your garden!
The rosebush 'Julie Andrieu' or 'Delstrirocrem' is a creation by Delbard from 2016, dedicated to the eponymous journalist, and belonging to the series of roses 'Souvenirs d'Amours Parfumés'. It is currently classified in the floribunda category. Robust, resistant and very hardy, 'Julie Andrieu' will form a very beautiful bush of 1.50 m (5ft) in height and 1 m (3ft) in width, but will climb up to 2 m (7ft), or even higher, if trained. It has a flexible habit and thorny stems that bear deciduous foliage, with a dark green and shiny colour, particularly healthy, which perfectly enhances the softly multicoloured hue of the flowers. It blooms from June to October, abundantly if it doesn't lack water. Its 8 cm (3in) roses, grouped in bouquets of 6 to 8 units, are composed of 80 petals arranged in quarters. Their pronounced fragrance with classic floral notes of rose will be classified in the fruity category.
As the rose breeder Delbard explained, the 'Souvenirs d'Amours' roses are "Voluptuous, romantic and fragrant; these roses have the unique charm of old-fashioned roses, childhood memories and moments of happiness rediscovered!"
This modern rose, 'Julie Andrieu', with its singular charm, deserves to be showcased in the garden. Choose a wall exposed to the morning sun or a structure large enough to support its shower of flowers. It allows for creating sumptuous decorations throughout the summer, requiring very little maintenance except for regular watering in summer in case of high heat and prolonged drought. As a structural element of 'English-style' gardens, rose arches form lovely shelters where one can rest while connecting different parts of the garden. Mix climbing roses or combine them with easy-to-grow large-flowered clematis like 'Etoile Violette', Montana Mayleen or Broughton Star'. When allowed to grow unrestricted, 'Julie Andrieu' forms a large bush ideal for a tall flowering hedge in the company of lilacs, tamarisks, or other shrub roses such as R.Californica Plena, R.hugonis, Iceberg or Madame Isaac Pereire. Lastly, its flowers have excellent vase life.

Botanical data
Plant it in well-drained soil between November and March. Roses like clay soil, but if the soil is sandy, compact or dry, add compost to the planting hole. Don't plant it in waterlogged soil in winter. Place it in a sunny or partially shaded area. Roses need a lot of nutrients, so use a specific fertiliser at the start of vegetation and throughout the flowering period. To encourage repeat flowering, remove faded flowers regularly. Prune the stems by about one-quarter of their length (from 4 to 6 buds from the base of the stem) in March. Prune above an outward-facing bud so that the bush can fill out and the branches don't become tangled in the centre of the canopy. Floribunda rose varieties are more vigorous and floriferous than large-flowered rose varieties.
Roses may develop unsightly spots at the end of summer, but this is a natural occurrence and doesn't harm the rose's growth.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
