The climbing rose Starlet Rose 'Natalie' renews the genre and will delight rose enthusiasts, even those without a garden. This small climbing variety can be sustainably cultivated in a pot or container. From May, it produces an abundance of beautiful double roses in a bright red colour. Slightly fragrant and blooming for months, they enhance a living space such as a terrace, patio, or balcony in the most beautiful way. Easy to grow, requiring little maintenance, this hardy rose can stay outdoors during winter.
The Rose is the most symbolic member of the large botanical family Rosaceae, which includes nearly 5000 species of trees, bushes, and herbaceous plants found almost all around the globe. The rose, a favourite genus of breeders named Rosa in Latin and crowned queen of flowers, comes in thousands of varieties of all colours and sizes.
The mini climbing Rose 'Natalie' is part of the series "The Starlets of the Roaring Twenties", dedicated to terraces and balconies. These compact climbers are suitable for pot cultivation and offer long-lasting blooming. 'Natalie' thus presents a dense and compact vegetation, forming at maturity a beautiful upright clump that reaches between 1.50 m (5ft) and 2 m (7ft) in height and about 1 m (3ft) to 1.20 m (4ft) in width. It is possible to lightly prune (during the growing season) to adjust the dimensions of the Rose to the available space. The dense foliage, with a slightly glossy dark green colour, enhances the blooming by providing a dark background against which it stands out visually from the middle of spring; from May, double roses appear, composed of numerous petals imbricated into each other. Their sophisticated design retains a natural grace, as the overall pattern of these flowers is more irregular than geometric. Slightly fragrant, Natalie's roses attract all eyes with their vibrant red colour. In this repeat-flowering variety, generous blooming continues until the frost. Removing faded flowers to promote new flower buds is always advisable.
With good hardiness, down to about -20 °C (- 4°F), Natalie grows in sunny or partially shaded locations, although flowering will be more abundant in full sun. Regular watering and fertilisation during the season will allow it to give its best.
The mini climbing Rose 'Natalie' is one of the best choices to enhance a friendly space, even in a small size. Its abundant and subtly fragrant blooming will create an attractive scene throughout the beautiful season. To perfect your ambience, if space allows, pair it with Spanish Jasmine (Jasminum grandiflorum), a species with low growth and suitable for pot cultivation, whose simple white flowers will blend well with the warm colours of Carmen. Another extremely floriferous plant to protect during winter is the Fuchsia Sundancer, which will reward you from June to November with its delicate dark pink and violet bells. To fully enjoy your space, also consider dwarf fruit trees, such as the Garden Gem Pear Tree, which, in addition to its succulent fruits in early autumn, will gift you with a charming white-pink blooming in spring, thus extending the flowering season of your green decor.

Botanical data
Grow the 'Natalie' rose in a pot on your balcony, patio, or garden. For best results, please place it in a sunny spot for a few hours daily and water it regularly, especially in summer.
In spring, use a potassium-dominant fertiliser to promote flowering for several months. Remove faded flowers as they appear so the plant can continue producing blooms. In spring, after the risk of frost has passed, prune the roses by cutting back the oldest branches very low to promote new shoots.
If you choose to plant 'Natalie' in your garden, do so from November to March and ensure the soil is well-tilled, well-drained, and not too sandy, compact, or dry. It will grow best in clayey soil. Incorporating soil or well-rotted manure at the bottom of the planting hole can help if your soil is unsuitable.
Place the plant in a sunny location but can also tolerate partial shade. Roses need nutrients, so use a specific fertiliser at the start of vegetation and regularly throughout the flowering period.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
