Rosa x alba The Alexandra rose - English Shrub Rose

The English rose The Alexandra Rose is a bush with a wild charm. Its orange-pink buds open into single wild rose flowers that turn coppery pink and golden yellow as they mature, fading to a fresh pink. All these shades blend together on the plant. It blooms with beautiful exuberance from summer until the first frost. It is a charming but also hardy variety, perfect for planting in an infornal hedge or a naturally inspired garden.

This bush is a complex hybrid, among others of Rosa x alba, the White Rose, which itself is a very old hybrid. Its parentage is uncertain, contributing to the famous variety 'Cuisse de Nymphe', among others. The Alexandra Rose also has genes from floribunda which give it an excellent ability to rebloom. It has inherited from its distant ancestors a natural, bushy silhouette, only slightly taller than wide. When fully grown, it reaches a height of 1.35 m (4ft) and a width of 1.20 m (4ft) (sometimes much larger if not pruned). It blooms continuously, producing clusters of large wild roses measuring 6 to 8 cm (2 to 3in), in a mix of warm yet soft hues, apricot, peach, orange, copper. Their fragrance is sweet, rather musky. Its foliage is bright green, dense, and very healthy. It is a highly disease-resistant and hardy variety.

The English rose The Alexandra Rose is easy to combine in the garden, especially suited for slightly wild, even shady scenes. The delicate tones of its flowers blend well with those of other flowering shrubs, tall perennials, and botanical roses.
