It's really not the best rose bush. The buds wilt before they even open. Feeling very disappointed, I removed it from the garden, potted it after a severe pruning in the hope that it will bloom properly again. Yet I have around fifty rose bushes in my garden and they are all thriving.

The 'Bossuet Aigle de Meaux' Rose is a very beautiful variety with purple-violet flowers that exude a sweet spicy fragrance.
The roses, in a lovely purple-violet colour, bloom from June to October. It is a well-filled cup presenting its multitude of tightly packed petals. The flower measures 10-12 cm (4-5in) in diameter, and it holds up well as a cut flower.
This is a modern shrub rose, well-branched with an upright habit, producing beautiful clusters of roses at the end of each shoot. Plant it in full sun, either in isolation, in a mixed border with perennials, or near a pathway or a high-traffic area to enjoy its sweet and spicy fragrance.

Botanical data
Plant your 'Bossuet Aigle de Meaux' rose bush in a sunny location. Roses are tolerant but will not like excessive limestone. They will adapt to any garden soil as long as the soil is well worked and sufficiently rich. If you notice spotted leaves or powdery mildew, remove them without delay. To plant your rose bush, prepare the soil by crumbling it and adding an amendment, such as dried blood or dehydrated horn, at the bottom of the planting hole. Water generously after planting to remove any air pockets. Water regularly for a few weeks to facilitate root development. Since 'Bossuet Aigle de Meaux' is a perpetual flowering rose, it should be pruned in early spring after the risk of frost and before flowering. Pruning involves reshaping and aerating the natural bushy habit of the rose bush. Trim your rose bush to approximately 5 buds from the ground. To prune, choose an outward-facing bud and make a diagonal cut just above it. Take this opportunity to remove dead wood and unsightly branches. Remove faded flowers throughout the summer to encourage the growth of new buds.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
