Thanks to Hélène (order preparation & quality control) and Thibault (shipping department), the bare root rose received seems healthy to me (note: the Décorosier label was present on one of the branches => that's important!). Planted near a Cherry tree and many other varieties (Friesia, Nicole Mioulane, Calizia, Suneva, Amber Queen, Alphonse Daudet, Amber Voluptia, Jalitah, The Poet's Wife, Molineux, Charlotte, Henri Delbard, Abbaye de Cluny...), I am now waiting for it to take root. This is the opinion of an amateur who has successfully planted over 570 different varieties of roses in his garden (+ 100 old roses & + 100 English AUSTIN and others).

Description

The Decorosier 'Celina' noatraum rosebush bears semi-double flowers measuring 5 to 6 cm (2in) in a soft yellow colour, in bouquets of about ten flowers.

The Decorosier series are shrub roses with a spreading habit. They can be used in various settings: lawn borders, flower beds, slopes or containers. They thrive in all types of soil, in sunny or partially shaded areas. They offer long exceptional flowering periods with healthy, glossy, semi-evergreen foliage.

Their qualities have been rewarded with 8 gold medals and 6 ADR labels. Naturally resistant to diseases, they do not require any treatment.

The ADR is the label of the German federation of rose breeders. The ADR designation is only granted to varieties that have passed the strictest tests in the world. The plants are tested simultaneously in 10 different locations, under various soil and climate conditions for several years. The tests evaluate hardiness, perennial character, and flowering without the use of any pesticides.

Planting and care

How to plant roses in peat pouches? Work the soil to a depth of 30 cm (12in) x 30 cm (12in), crumbling the soil well and adding an amendment such as dried blood or dehydrated horn at the bottom of the planting hole. Prepare a mound of soil at the bottom of the hole. Prepare a bucket of thick mud with water and soil. Dip your plant in the mud to coat the roots and prevent air bubbles (this is called "dressing"). Position your plant in the planting hole, spreading out the roots and checking the depth: the graft point should be just above the soil. Fill with soil and gently tamp down as you go. Prune the branches to 15/20 cm (6/8in) to stimulate growth. Create a basin at the base of the rose and water abundantly with a fine spray to eliminate air pockets and make the soil adhere to the roots. In very cold regions, it may be useful to mulch with leaves to a depth of 20 cm (8in) at the base of your plants. Decorosier roses do not require pruning. However, it is possible to prune them in spring by cutting back the branches by half. In summer, removing faded flowers will stimulate the growth of new flowers. Naturally resistant to diseases, they do not require fungicidal treatments.
