Very good quality bare-root roses at a very reasonable price. They have all taken root and are giving me wonderful flowers. The colours are true to the photos. Very, very happy.

Description

Rosa Generosa Amandine Chanel is an upright shrub rose that blooms from June to the first frost.

The flowers are medium-sized and are raspberry pink with white petals at the back. The flowers are double and emit a soft fragrance of vanilla, peach, cherry, and lime depending on the atmosphere.

Each stem produces large clusters of 5 to 7 flowers. The flowering is repeat. The foliage of this Generosa rose is deciduous. The rose is very hardy. It can reach a height of 1m (3ft) at maturity. Grow it both in borders and as a specimen plant.

Planting and care

Roses prefer a sunny location (at least 4 to 5 hours of sunlight per day) but protected from the scorching midday rays and strong winds. Plant them from October to April. Easy to grow, roses appreciate loose, permeable, and humus-rich soil. They prefer soil with a neutral pH but will adapt to any garden as long as the soil is well worked and sufficiently fertile.

To plant your Rosa Generosa Amandine Chanel, work the soil to a depth of 25 cm (10in), crumble the soil well, and place a base amendment such as bonemeal at the bottom of the planting hole. Position your plant, freed from its pot, and cover the top of the root ball with 3 cm (1in) of soil. Fill in the hole and water generously to eliminate air pockets. During dry weather, it is necessary to water regularly for a few weeks to facilitate root growth. Also, remember to provide your rose with special rose fertiliser that stimulates flowering in plants.  Prune its branches by 1/3 each spring.

Roses are often spotted or unsightly at the end of summer, but this is not a problem for their development. These spots are not harmful to the rose; it is a natural phenomenon.
