The rose bush arrived with a broken branch. Despite our efforts, it did not take and quickly died. I find it beautiful, so I will probably order another one. Description

The Rosie Generosa Ladurée is a very beautiful fragrant bush. The flowers appear from June to October and have the scent of fruits (grapefruit, cherry, raspberry, cinnamon, lime, vanilla, caramel, grenadine). The flowering is abundant and provides large double flowers with a crumpled paper look. The flowers are raspberry pink in color.

This rose has deciduous bluish-green foliage. It is repeat flowering. It is hardy and very healthy. The Ladurée rose can reach a height of 1m (3ft) at maturity. Place it in a flowerbed or as a specimen plant; you can even grow it in a pot.

When cut, its charming old-fashioned flowers will make beautiful bouquets that will release their scent of freshly squeezed pink grapefruit in your home.

Planting and care

Roses prefer a sunny location (at least 4 to 5 hours of sun per day) but sheltered from the scorching midday rays and strong winds. Plant them from October to April. Easy to grow, roses appreciate loose, permeable soil rich in humus. They prefer soil with a neutral pH but will adapt to any garden as long as the soil is well worked and sufficiently rich.

To plant your potted rose, work the soil to a depth of 25 cm (10in), crumble the soil well, and place a base amendment such as bonemeal at the bottom of the planting hole. Position your plant, removed from its pot, covering the top of the root ball with 3 cm (1in) of soil. Fill in and water generously to remove air pockets.

In dry weather, water regularly for a few weeks to facilitate rooting.  Remember to provide your rose with special rose fertiliser that stimulates plant flowering. Prune its branches by a third each spring. The Ladurée Rose is resistant to diseases.

Roses are often spotted or unsightly at the end of summer, but this is not a problem for their development. These spots are not harmful to the rose; it is a natural phenomenon.
