Thank you to the staff (for order preparation and shipping), the cutting received seems healthy to me. Planted in a small pot close to the same variety, I am now patiently waiting for it to take root... (or not?).

Description

The Rosa Zepeti Meibenbino could accompany, or even replace, the traditional Dipladenias and other balcony geraniums as it is very floriferous, dazzling, and easy to grow. It is a tiny rounded bush, a beautiful very green ball on which multiple clusters of small shiny roses succeed each other from spring until the first frosts, without wilting in the sun. They are perfectly highlighted by a foliage of intense green, which is very healthy, but also more or less evergreen in winter. Equally at ease in borders and flowerbeds as in a pot, this intrepid little rose bush fits everywhere.

The flowers of Rosa Zepeti Meibenbin, gathered in terminal clusters, come from the polyantha rose, an old hybrid resulting from Rosa multiflora and R. chinensis. Launched by Meilland in 2019, this variety has already received several awards in international competitions: Best miniature in Barcelona (Spain) in 2017, Certificate for best miniature in Le Roeulx (Belgium) in 2017, Certificate in Madrid (Spain) in 2018, Certificate of Merit in Monaco in 2018, and finally Gold Medal in Nyon (Switzerland) in 2020.

This Zepeti dwarf rose bush has a rounded and bushy habit, not exceeding 40 cm (16in) in all directions. The semi-double flowers, 4-5 cm (2in) wide and somewhat blurry in shape, are composed of 10 to 12 petals with a very firm, almost leathery texture, which retain a fresh appearance and their beautiful carmine red colour for a long time. They bloom in very large numbers in bouquets of 2 to 5, continuously, from May-June to October. This flowering is without fragrance. This variety, perfectly hardy and very disease-resistant, develops decorative foliage, which is an intense dark green, matte colour. Deciduous in cold regions, it will remain evergreen during winter in mild climates.

Obtained by Meilland in 2019.

The 'Zepeti' rose bush, robust and generous, adapts to all soils that are not too dry, but it prefers fairly fertile soils. Its very compact, well-groomed appearance works wonders in rockeries or as a border for flowerbeds. This variety also adapts perfectly to decorating patios and balconies. Plant it en masse along pathways or to accentuate shrub flowerbeds. Plants with blue, white, or shades of yellow, orange, or red flowers are good companions. Consider, for example, shrubby salvias, coreopsis, gaillardias, or marigolds.

Planting and care

The Zepeti rose bushes prefer a sunny location (at least 4 to 5 hours of sun per day), but protected from the scorching midday rays and strong winds. Rose bushes appreciate loose, permeable and humus-rich soils. They prefer a slightly acidic soil, but will adapt to any garden as long as the soil is well cultivated and sufficiently rich. To plant your rose bush, prepare the soil in a depth of 25 cm by crumbling the soil and adding a bottom amendment such as bonemeal. Position your plant, freed from its pot, covering the top of the root ball with 3 cm (1in) of soil, fill in and water thoroughly to remove any air pockets. In dry weather, regular watering is necessary for a few weeks to facilitate root growth. Also, remember to provide your rose bush with special rose fertiliser to stimulate plant flowering. To achieve abundant flowering for your climbing roses, regularly bend and tie the branches that can grow up to 1 metre (3 feet) in a week during summer. Each bend will result in lateral growth that ends in a cluster of flowers. Don't hesitate to use this technique, you will be rewarded.
