Rosa x polyantha Crystal Fairy®
Thanks to the team (for order preparation and shipping), the bare-root rose I received looks healthy. Planted it, now patiently waiting for it to take root... or not?

Description
The Crystal Fairy® rose bush is a compact variety that charms with its generous flowering and ease of maintenance. This rose bush is the white version of the famous and excellent ‘The Fairy’ rose bush. Suitable for flowering borders, flower beds, or slopes, it produces dense clusters of small white flowers that offer a continuous spectacle throughout summer. Floriferous and disease-resistant, this ground cover rose bush will not disappoint.
Bred by Jan Spek Rozen BV and Jackson & Perkins, the Crystal Fairy® rose bush 'Spreken' is a polyantha belonging to the ground cover rose bushes group. These rose bushes, known for their low height and spreading growth, are perfect for quickly covering surfaces. Crystal Fairy® forms a compact bush, measuring between 30 and 60 cm in height with a slightly wider spread, and has a rounded to spreading habit. Its branches are thorny and bear deciduous foliage, divided into ovate, toothed, shiny dark green leaflets. This foliage is resistant to rose diseases, with vegetation remaining healthy and vigorous throughout the season.
Flowers are the major asset of this rose bush. From early June until autumn, it produces very dense clusters of small double white flowers, which can sometimes turn slightly pale pink towards the end of flowering. Although not fragrant, their charm lies in their delicacy and abundance. Each flower measures about 3 cm in diameter. The reblooming of this variety is excellent, with flowers succeeding each other throughout summer if the soil remains moist.
The Crystal Fairy® rose bush is perfect as a ground cover, in borders, or at the front of flower beds. Its low and spreading habit creates a flowery carpet effect that can be used to stabilise slopes or adorn more formal spaces like the edge of pathways. Pair it with its pink counterpart 'The Fairy' in a large flower bed, planting 3 plants of each variety. This small white rose bush particularly complements other varieties like ‘Bonica’ (pink), ‘Louis Bleriot’ (dark pink), or ‘Little White Pet’ with pink buds and white pompom flowers.

Planting and care
Roses prefer a sunny location (at least 4 to 5 hours of sunshine per day) but sheltered from the scorching midday rays and strong winds. Roses appreciate loose, permeable, and humus-rich soils. They will adapt to any garden as long as the soil is well worked and rich. To plant your 'Crystal Fairy' rose, work the soil in a 25 cm cube, crumble the soil well, and place a base fertiliser such as dried blood or dehydrated horn at the bottom of the planting hole. Remove your plant from its pot and position, covering the top of the root ball with 3 cm of soil, fill in and water generously to eliminate air pockets. In dry weather, water regularly for a few weeks to facilitate rooting. Also, remember to provide your rose with special rose fertiliser that stimulates plant flowering.
Roses are often spotted or unsightly at the end of summer, but this is not a problem for their development. These spots are not harmful to the rose; it is a natural phenomenon.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
