The cutting I received looks healthy to me. Planted along the driveway, now waiting for it to take root... or not?

Description

The 'Larissa' rose bush is an excellent groundcover rose. The flowers are full and come in clusters of porcelain pink and white, giving your flower beds a sweet shop window feel. These roses naturally fall off once they wither, leaving the flower bed looking tidy throughout the flowering period. 'Larissa' also has beautiful disease-resistant foliage.

Use ground cover roses on slopes, walls, or at the base of trees. They will adorn these bare spots throughout the summer with their blooms. Larissa can also be grown as a dwarf bush in a container or pot.

Larissa is a Kordes creation, a highly reputable German family of rose breeders. Like many roses from this house, it was awarded the ADR label in 2008. ADR is the label of the German Rose Breeders' Association. This label is only given to varieties that have passed the strictest tests in the world. The plants are tested simultaneously at 10 different locations, in various soil and climate conditions over several years. The tests assess hardiness, perennial character, and flowering without the use of any pesticides.

Kordes Sons creation from 2008.

Planting and care

Roses prefer a sunny location (at least 4 to 5 hours of sun per day) but sheltered from the scorching midday rays and strong winds. They appreciate loose, permeable, deep, non-limestone and fertile soils. They prefer a neutral to slightly acidic soil, but will adapt to any garden as long as the soil is well worked and sufficiently rich. To plant your rose in a pot, work the soil to a depth of 25 cm (10in) by crumbling the soil and placing a basal amendment such as dried blood or dehydrated horn, position your seedling in the hole by covering the top of the root ball with 3 cm (1in) of soil, fill in and water generously to remove air pockets. In dry weather, it is necessary to water regularly for a few weeks to facilitate rooting. Also, remember to provide your rose with special rose fertiliser that stimulates plant flowering. Prune the branches by one third each spring.
