Description

This is a ground cover rose from the Rigo series, vigorous, very floriferous, very useful for flowering beds, slopes, low walls, or for living in pots on terraces and balconies. You can also use them to create pretty borders. The Rigo roses are brand new creations from W. Kordes & Sons, robust, very healthy with abundant and continuous flowering. 'Rotilia' has very bright carmine red flowers that give off a sweet scent of wild roses. Medium-sized, semi-double, they bloom in large clusters. This rose deserves a special place in the garden universe.

Planting and care

How to plant roses in soil pockets? Work your soil to a depth of 25 cm (10in) x 25 cm (10in), crumble the soil well and place an amendment such as dried blood or dehydrated horn at the bottom of the planting hole. Prepare a mound of soil at the bottom of the hole. Prepare a bucket of thick mud with water and soil. Dip your plant in the mud to coat the roots and prevent the formation of air bubbles (this is called "pralinage"). Position your plant in the planting hole, spreading out the roots, and check the depth: the graft point should be just above the soil. Fill with soil and gently tamp down. Trim the branches to 15/20 cm (6/8in) to stimulate growth. Create a basin at the base of the roses and water abundantly with a fine rain to eliminate air pockets and make the soil adhere to the roots. In very cold regions, it may be useful to mulch with leaves up to 20 cm (8in) at the base of your plants.
