Rosa Weg der Sinne - shrub rose

The 'Weg der Sinne' Rose is a new shrub rose from Germany, with a well-rounded and harmonious shape, offering flowers with a unique colour throughout summer. Its good-sized, semi-double flowers are a magnificent purple-violet with magenta highlights further enhanced by a small pale yellow centre. They are gathered in slightly fragrant small clusters which dot perfectly healthy foliage. A worry-free, very colourful rose, ideal for a small garden, in large borders or beds, but also on the terrace or balcony.

Groundcover shrub roses quickly cover the ground thanks to their spreading habit, while offering abundant and regular flowering throughout summer. 'Weg der Sinne', obtained by the German rose breeder Kordes in 2013, obtained in 2015 the highly demanding ADR label awarded in Germany to the most cold and disease resistant rose varieties. It is a plant with exceptional natural resistance to diseases and parasites and an almost constant decorative effect with harmonious, dense and well-branched vegetation. The flowers of this rose are gathered in terminal clusters, the same as the polyantha rose, an old hybrid resulting from Rosa multiflora and Rosa chinensis. It has a spreading dome shape, reaching about 60 cm (24in) high in a few years, with a width of 80cm (32in). The 6 to 8 cm (2 to 3in) diameter flowers are formed by 7 to 8 broad and wavy petals arranged in well-opened cups around a cluster of yellow stamens. They are a pink-purple-violet, with a pale yellow base. They have a light fragrance. This variety develops deciduous, quite deep green and very elegant foliage.

Choosing this 'Weg der Sinne' rose supports an ecological approach where chemical treatments are banned while providing an attractive plant all summer. This rose adapts to all soils that are not too dry and all climates, allowing it to be grown from the north to the south, even at altitude. It can be planted en masse, on a large slope, with grey foliage (Stachys lanata, Artemisia nana, Cerastium tomentosum...). It will work well planted all along a path, in front of a large bed composed of Blue Boy and The Fairy roses (pink and white) or on each side of the garden entrance. It also grows well in a container on a sunny terrace, where it will keep company with summer annuals (Lobelia, Nemesia, foliage ipomoeas...)
