The label says "Father's Day" while the order clearly states "Mother's Day" and it's for my mum.

Description

Rose Fête des Mères Orange (Orange Morsdag) brings its beautiful orange colour to this series of mini-polyantha roses. It is a very small bush that transforms into a living bouquet of small double flowers almost spherical in shape, a bright orange color, in May-June. This flowering is renewed in successive waves until autumn. It can be placed anywhere in the garden, to fill a gap in a flower bed, in a pot on the patio, a planter, or to create pretty colourful borders.

The Mother's Day Rose, officially named 'Morsdag', was discovered in 1949 in the Netherlands by FJ Grootendorst, famous for his roses with carnation-like flowers. This Orange Mother's Day variety was obtained in 1956. It is a compact, highly recurrent, clustered-flowered rose with thin but strong stems. Left to grow freely, 'Orange Mother's Day' will not exceed 30-40 cm (12-16in) in height, slightly more in width. In mild climates, the bush will be slightly taller. It can also be trained on a trellis in a pot to decorate the terrace, forming a mini-climber about 50-60 cm (20-24in) tall. The flowering is renewed for about 5 months. On the year's shoots, clusters of small pointed buds appear, which open into 3-4 cm (1-2in) flowers composed of 26 to 40 very concave petals, giving the impression that this little rose refuses to fully bloom. The fragrance of the flowers is more or less pronounced. They are set on a small, abundant, and shiny foliage, which shows little sensitivity to diseases under good growing conditions. This variety is easily propagated by cuttings and layering.

This rose, known as a 'dwarf or patio rose', performs well both in the ground and in deep pots and planters. It is perfect for filling a low border and for flowering on a terrace. Combine your Mother's Day roses, which come in red, pink, white, etc., with other patio plants such as lobelias, nemesis, diascias, or bidens. In the ground, its flowers, which resemble reduced peonies, go well with the fluffy spikes of catmints, the small blue cups of perennial geraniums, and other small roses like Blue Boy or Pomponella...

Planting and care

The Mother's Day Dwarf Rose prefers sunny locations. Excessive limestone can cause chlorosis. This rose is disease-resistant, but if you notice spotted or affected leaves, remove them immediately. This rose is perfectly hardy in open ground, however, in a pot, it will be more fragile, so protect it from the harshness of winter. To plant your rose, work the soil by crumbing it well and put an amendment at the bottom of the planting hole, such as bonemeal. Water generously after planting to eliminate air pockets. Water regularly for a few weeks to encourage rooting. In a pot, use a mixture of garden soil and compost in a ratio of 1/3; 2/3. Don't forget the layer of clay pebbles or gravel for drainage. In these conditions, ensure regular watering throughout the year. Regularly remove faded flowers in the heart of summer to stimulate the development of younger buds. Pruning consists of removing these flowers and shaping the bush.
